Asia : Indigo

 Legendary English rock supergroup Asia are pleased to announce that their new studio album, “Indigo”, will be released on November 6, 2026, via Frontiers Music Srl.  

 Geoff Downes commented: “The first track off the album is a high power energy piece, with a few elements of prog trickery but retaining the accessible chorus block, which was always a signature of Asia’s music from the very beginning. Harry and I started working on this as one of the early ideas that seemed to come together very organically. Virgil’s dynamic and innovative drums parts drive the piece along, while John’s soaring guitars keep the momentum. Harry’s vocals are commanding and my keyboard parts hold the wall of sound together. It’s a song of great optimism, mainly about looking forward to the future and travelling ‘into the light’. Play it loud!”

More than four decades after redefining the sound of melodic progressive rock, Asia return in 2026 with “Indigo” – a studio album that bridges past, present, and future with remarkable grace and authenticity.

Now featuring Geoffrey Downes alongside an inspired new lineup—Virgil Donati, John Mitchell, and Harry Whitley—Asia step confidently into a new era while honoring the legacy that made them one of the most iconic supergroups of all time. 

Geoff Downes described the genesis of the album: “The initial writing period began in 2015, following the release of our previous album “Gravitas” in 2014. John Wetton and I started putting our ideas together, aiming to get into the studio once more. It was with great sadness that John became seriously ill during this time and we had put on hold our plans, and sadly John passed away before we could continue and complete it. So, it was always in my mind that at some point it would be a shame not to finish off some of these songs and finally release them as part of an Asia album.

“In 2023, when the tribute concert for John took place, I was so encouraged by the response to Asia’s music that I viewed this as the perfect opportunity to re-establish not only the band, but also to reunite with our long-time supportive label, Frontiers, paving the way for us to get back in the studio,” he continued.

Downes also added: “So, Asia was back in the room, so to speak, and we were very fortunate to have recruited Virgil Donati and John Mitchell, both of whom had worked extensively with John before, as well as our new vocalist and bassist, Harry Whitley. The tours followed to great success throughout 2024 and 2025, and finally we sat down towards the end of last year to record the album. Working with these fine musicians was a great privilege and the music just seemed to flow.

“The album was really a joy to make. I forged a close writing relationship with Harry, and I felt how great was to be working with someone who had very similar musical influences and taste once again, just as I did with John. I feel that this is one of our best albums to date. The songs are deep in musicality, with a powerful and original performance, dynamic and strong lyrical undertones—it’s an album that hopefully our fans will widely appreciate, and support our cause to put Asia back on the map. Enjoy the ride!” he concluded.

Recorded throughout 2025 and produced by Downes and the band, with mixing and mastering handled by John Mitchell, “Indigo” captures the unmistakable spirit of Asia while injecting it with renewed vitality and purpose.

At the heart of the album lies an emotional connection to the band’s history. “Indigo” includes some of the final compositions written by the late John Wetton—“Tattoo Indigo (Parts 2 & 3)” and “Chesapeake Bay”—imbuing the record with a profound sense of continuity and tribute. The presence of Wetton is further felt through the extraordinary vocal performance of Harry Whitley, whose tone and phrasing evoke a striking and deeply moving resemblance to the band’s original voice.

Musically, “Indigo” stands as a natural continuation of Asia’s acclaimed 21st-century output, while subtly weaving in the sonic DNA of the band’s classic early albums. From soaring melodies to richly layered arrangements, the album delivers the signature blend of accessibility and musicianship that defined hits like “Heat Of The Moment” and “Only Time Will Tell”.

The album also features special guest appearances that elevate its scope: Steve Howe contributes acoustic guitar to the evocative “Chesapeake Bay”, while Mike Portnoy (Dream Theater) delivers a powerful performance on the bonus track “Tattoo Indigo (Part 3)”.

Following a resurgence of live activity across the US, Japan, and Europe, Asia are looking forward to taking to the road again. 

With “Indigo”, Asia don’t just revisit their legacy – they expand it, proving once again that their music remains as vital, resonant, and timeless as ever.

Formed by English guitarist Sean Manning, whose credits include stints with HURRICANE and QUIET RIOT offshoot, LITTLE WOMEN, and fellow Brit Paul Rafferty, the original vocalist for BONHAM, The Exiles were mainstays on the Southern California music scene in the early 1990s writing and recording a wealth of material and performing at venues such as the Troubadour, Whisky a Go Go, FM Station, and Club Lingerie. 

After originally moving to Los Angeles, CA to accompany his close friend and newly minted DIO axeman, Rowan Robertson, and intending to study jazz, things changed when Manning was introduced to Rafferty by legendary local music journalist, Jon Sutherland. Discovering their mutual love for British blues rock and bands such as Free, Bad Company, Led Zeppelin, and Faces, the duo quickly formed a strong writing partnership and recruited Hollywood-based English bassist, Paul Andrew Stanley. After briefly utilizing the services of former WHITE LION/CITIES drummer, Greg D'Angelo, the line-up was completed with the addition of Terry Mascall, a young John Bonham-style pounder from Cambridge. 

"The Exiles were quintessentially an English band, four English blokes living in Hollywood playing classic rock.... just as Nirvana and grunge hit the scene!", laughs Manning. "Paul and I were writing constantly over the course of the year, often up at Franklin Canyon reservoir, which resulted in all these tunes on the 'Turning Time' album. It's a pretty broad pallete from traditional rock to some soul and blues numbers. Heavy electric to acoustic and mandolin with orchestration. I was and still am a huge admirer of Jimmy Page's use of light and shade in the Zeppelin compositions. That sort of approach was really inspirational to us."

While the bulk of the material on 'Turning Time' was recorded by the classic Exiles line-up, engineered and mixed by brothers Ricky Delana (NAZARETH, KIX) and Eddie Delana (QUIET RIOT, RHINO BUCKET), Manning and Rafferty would also team up with PAT BENATAR alumni, drummer Myron Grombacher and bassist Frank Linx, on 'Tearing Up A Storm' and the album's ferocious title track opener, helmed by Benatar guitarist, Neil Giraldo, at his Malibu studio. Album closers 'High Old Times' and 'Carry You Home', the latter with Richard Baker (SANTANA, GINO VANNELLI) on flute and keyboards, were cut with Roger Sommers (TESLA, RIVERDOGS) at Royaltone Studios in North Hollywood and feature Dave Salinas (KENNY LOGGINS, DON FELDER) on drums.

First released in a limited capacity in 1996 as SEAN MANNING & PAUL RAFFERTY - 'The Exiles', 'Turning Time' constitutes an extensive re-working of the original 10 songs and adds five previously unheard bonus tracks unearthed by Manning during the process of transferring old reels to digital, including the stirring 'Soul Woman', 'Ain't No Fool', a hypnotic ROLLING STONES-esque number, and 'Soul Has No Home', conjuring shades of early ROD STEWART. 

Working at Empire Sound studios in Dallas TX over the course of several months, Manning added guitars and backing vocals to most of the tracks and brought in veteran keyboardist, Jeff Jacobs, whose credits include FOREIGNER and BILLY JOEL, to add Hammond B3 organ, piano. as well as strings to the album's majestic magnum opus, 'Richmond Castle Walk', a not so subtle nod to LED ZEPPELIN. 

"I am extremely pleased with how everything turned out", states Manning who produced the project and re-mixed the album, assisted by Empire Sound operator, Alex Gerst. "When we recorded these songs originally, they were just quality demos, but we really didn't get the chance to fully flesh things out the way we would have under different circumstances. I am grateful 'Turning Time' has afforded me the opportunity to return to the studio one more time and create a whole new album in the process."

One Hit Wondering began as a monthly column on Bernard’s long-running music blog, Adam’s World, where he still writes it today. As he was approaching his third year of writing the column, he knew he wanted these stories preserved in book form.

The pair would eventually team up in 1976 as Foreigner for a string of multi-platinum albums and chart topping hit singles. In fact they were the first band since The Beatles to have their first eight singles reach the US Top 20. 

While still a member of Foreigner, Lou embarked upon a solo career, releasing 'Ready Or Not' in 1987, which featured the huge solo hit, 'Midnight Blue'. It was followed by another smash solo album, 1989's 'Long Hard Look' featuring the hit, 'Just Between You And Me'. Now in 2026, Lou releases his long awaited third solo offering, the much anticipated, and suitably titled, 'Released'. Produced by Lou himself, 'Released' can stand proudly alongside Lou's previous solo albums, as well as his matchless recordings with Foreigner. With every generation comes a great war. It may take years to fully reveal itself, but the seasoned warrior knows preparation is everything. Now in 2025, Bay Area thrash metal icons TESTAMENT return with their fourteenth studio album, Para Bellum, via Nuclear Blast Records. Taken from the Latin phrase Si vis pacem, para bellum—“If you want peace, prepare for war”—the album stands as both a battle cry and an observation of humanity’s uneasy alliance with its own creations. As technology accelerates and disconnection grows, Para Bellum sees TESTAMENT reflecting the modern chaos through music that’s urgent, sharp, and unflinchingly human.

True to their legacy, Para Bellum is a masterclass in dynamic thrash songwriting, guided by founding guitarist Eric Peterson and vocalist Chuck Billy, who continue to lead the band with vision and force. Each track on the album stands on its own—distinct in structure, key, and atmosphere—but when taken together, they create a record that flows seamlessly, puzzle-like, through eras and styles. From the haunting, groove-laden “Shadow People” to the whiplash intensity of “Infanticide A.I.,” the band explores themes both timeless and immediate: technology’s encroachment, supernatural dread, generational collapse, and duels worthy of a standoff in “The Gathering”-esque “High Noon”. 

“Who’s the fastest?” Billy jokes, “It sounds like there is about to be a draw.” Songs shift effortlessly from pummeling thrash to eerie darkness, with Chuck stretching his voice across clean chants, guttural roars, and whispers of doom, all in perfect sync with the mood of each piece. 

To the delight of many life-long Testament fans, this record also sees the inclusion of a ballad for the first time in many years. Precisely formulated to weave effortlessly with the album, “Meant To Be” contains a world of variety within itself; “I love how the song takes off at the end and just doesn’t look back,” explains Peterson. “It’s different, but it fits. It’s like a breath of fresh air.” This also marks another novel moment for the band using true, orchestrated strings performed by world renowned cellist Dave Eggar. 

A major evolution on Para Bellum is the addition of powerhouse drummer Chris Dovas, whose precision, speed, and instinctive dynamics infuse the album with fresh energy. Working closely with Peterson throughout the writing process, Dovas helped shape song structures, accelerated the workflow, and injected a level of versatility that amplifies the album’s modern edge without straying from the Testament sound. “He’s so inspired and quick to throw ideas back,” says Peterson, who also embraced his own black metal influences more heavily this time, both vocally and in the guitar work. Tracks like “Infanticide A.I.” and “For the Love of Pain” reflect this genre-blending approach—tight thrash foundations with ripples of black metal atmosphere. “Eric and I have a lot of similar influences,” explains Dovas, “We worked really closely on this album and had a great time.” 

Alongside Peterson, Alex Skolnick’s guitar work remains both razor-sharp and exploratory. “This album captures many different sides of the band through the years, along with some fresh new sounds,” Skolnick notes. “There’s a little something for everyone. You will not be disappointed.” Rounding out the rhythm section is the inimitable Steve DiGiorgio, whose walking bass lines add a unique low-ness, and technical depth, locking in flawlessly with Dovas’ expressive drumming. Meanwhile, Chuck leads the lyrical vision with contributions from longtime collaborator Del James and other friends, weaving a mix of supernatural mythos, sociopolitical commentary, and apocalyptic dread. 

Recorded with Juan Urteaga and mixed for the first time by Jens Bogren, Para Bellum is extremely polished and operating at full throttle. The cover art, once again painted by Eliran Kantor, captures the album’s essence: a serene angel made of missiles, an explosion turned halo, surrounded by shovel-bearing cultists with books strapped to their faces. It’s a visual metaphor for blind belief and self-destruction—created, notably, by hand –  in an era flooded by AI-generated imagery. 

In its opening notes, Para Bellum nods to the past by resurrecting a lost bridge from The Legacy—a full-circle moment that anchors the album’s expansive sonic journey. And as it ends, it does so peacefully, with a moment of classical-esque finger picking long used by Peterson to warm up his hands before battle. At some point in your life you just have to take account for your actions and face the music. PROPHETS OF ADDICTION mainman Lesli Sanders has taken that to heart. PROPHETS OF ADDICTION’s fourth album, Face the Music is set for a release on 25 October via BraveWords Records. The first single, Superhero, from the upcoming album will be released 27 September.

Kicking things off with the downright dirty “Flavor of the Danger,” the listener is immediately clued in to what they’re getting with Face the Music, an album loaded with catchy late 70s inspired glam punk n roll riffs, powerful and emotionally resonant vocals and a clever lyrical output. “Let’s Get High” sees the band slide slightly into a melodic goth route ala Sisters of Mercy. The song isn’t a drug reference, but a “recollection of the excitement that a new record would bring as a teenager and after the long wait finally able to hear it for the first time,” says Sanders. The band’s take on the Rod Stewart classic “Maggie May” is nothing short of punk magnificence, The band had the opportunity to play the track for drum legend Carmine Appice, who played with Stewart from 1976 – 1982. Appice was so impressed that he asked, “would you mind if I send this to Rod?” The album’s lead single “Superhero” comes complete with a hook that won’t leave your head for days. “Superhero is a song I have been sitting on for a few years and wasn’t going to record until the right musicians were put in place, realizing the potential. I finally found that group of musicians,” the frontman states.

Face the Music, PROPHETS OF ADDICTION’s debut for Bravewords Records was recorded between 2022 and 2023 in Seattle, WA and Las Vegas, NV and produced, mixed and mastered by Phil Soussan (bass player for Ozzy Osbourne, Billy idol and more). Drummer Wayne Stokely says of the album, “We wanted to make a classic 70’s style rock n’ roll album without losing our raw and punky vibe, but with a modern 2024 production. There’s not a lot of records out there like this one, so I think we achieved our goal. The songs speak for themselves,” while Sanders adds “this is the record I have been wanting to record for years. The feel is right, the musicianship is right, the songs are right and now the time is right for you all to give us your thoughts.”

Of the band’s signing with hotshot upstart label Bravewords, Sanders declares “We were looking for the right label and the search was extensive, the most important aspect to me was getting it out there for people to hear – otherwise, what’s the point, right?” while Stokely adds, “I’ve known Tim and Giles for years now. Plus, I’m already signed to the label with another act so it seemed like a natural fit.”

Brian Vollmer talks about how SCRAP METAL came together, “SCRAP METAL started out as an afterthought and morphed into a full fledged album. During the 80’s HELIX had written several very good songs that were never ever released. I decided to finish them, and also add a song I had written with Sean Kelly entitled STUCK IN THE 80’S, which ironically, seemed to sum up the project. I chose Aaron Murray and HELIX bassist Daryl Gray to produce, as they had both worked on previous HELIX projects. Aaron is on the cutting edge of where production is going, being the protégé of Danny Broadbeck (Delores O’Reardon) who was the protégé of Jack Richardson (The Guess Who/Alice Cooper/Bob Segar) so it was a fantastic lineage of producers. As for Daryl, he’s not only the music director for HELIX, but he produced OLD SCHOOL, which came out just as COVID hit. Sean Kelly, who I’ve written several albums with over the years, also became heavily involved in the recording of this disc, as did Helix guitar players Mark Chichkan and Chritopher Julke. We even had former HELIX guitarists Kaleb Duck and Brent “The Doctor” Doerner to come in and play on a couple of tracks. Night Terror’s album will bring you back to the era of the famed Seven Witches, Passage To The Other Side record, with its screaming Halford - like vocals & riffs of pure, unapologetic metal at its finest. That combined with killer thunderous drums and sick bass runs, will take you on a journey to those past days of the early 80’s, when the New Wave of British heavy metal (NWOBHM) was coming into its own & about to take over the airwaves of the rock world. Frost’s mission in putting together this newest project with some of the industry’s most quintessential players, was not to reinvent the wheel...but rather to resurrect it. DORO released her new album, Warriors of the Sea, on October 24, 2025, via Rare Diamonds Production, distributed by Edel.

The project was inspired by the success of two sold-out Metal Queen Cruises in May and June, with a third cruise already scheduled for June 6, 2026. Fan excitement from these events sparked demand for new music, leading to this release.

The title track, “Warriors of the Sea”, has quickly become a live favorite, serving as both the cruise’s anthem and a festival highlight. The album features ten tracks in total: Side A offers four rare studio recordings, while Side B captures five live performances from DORO’s 2024/25 sold-out tour.

In keeping with the theme cruise, the album will be offered as liquid-filled vinyl filled with Blue Curaçao. Initially, it was going to be filled with Rhine Water, but liquor is quicker in getting the point across, and it tastes better, too. It’s also available as a CD digipak and picture disc vinyl.

 Electric Temple was formed in 2024 by guitarist Tony Childs and features Andrew Freeman (Last In Line, Lynch Mob, Offspring) on vocals, Mike Duda (W.A.S.P.) on bass, Matt Starr (Ace Frehley, Mr. Big, KIX) on drums. Guitarist/songwriter/producer Tony Childs was formerly in the band Shanghai. Canadian-born Rick Hughes is renowned for his powerful and rangey voice as the lead singer of the legendary metal band Sword, and of the hard-rock band Saints & Sinners. A seasoned performer with hundreds of headlining shows in Canada, America, Europe and Japan over the years, and his superb stage performances while opening for bands such as Metallica, Motorhead, Alice Cooper, Black Label Society, etc. 

So when it was time for him to record ‘’Redemption’’, his first international solo album, he spared no expenses and efforts to make this album a great one, hiring producer John Webster (Aerosmith, Mötley Crüe, AC/DC, etc.) and renting HippoSonic Recording Studio (formerly known as Little Mountain Studios) in Vancouver to record this opus.

The first salvo is coming out September 5, 2025, and it is quite an event in itself: his first single and video is a supercharged version of The Who’s classic ‘’The Real Me’’ - reuniting after 43 years Ozzy Osbourne’s superband consisting of Brad Gillis on guitar, Rudy Sarzo on bass, and Tommy Aldridge on drums. This is the band that did the last leg of the ‘’Diary of a Madman Tour’’ in 1982 after the tragic departure of the great Randy Rhoads, and that then recorded Ozzy’s classic live album ‘’Speak of the Devil’’.

The Real Me stands as a cornerstone of my album 'Redemption'," says Rick. "As a lifelong fan of The Who, I wanted to pay tribute to the golden age of 70s rock.
